PRESS RELEASE

Digidesign® Pro Tools®|24 Systems to be Compatible with Windows NT

September 26, 1998

With the introduction of Pro Tools® version 4.2.1 software for Windows NT, Digidesign® announces support for the Windows NT platform with existing Pro Tools|24 hardware as well as the new Pro Tools|24 MIX and Pro Tools|24 MIXplus. Now Windows NT users can enjoy the professional-quality digital audio recording capabilities that Macintosh users have long enjoyed. Additionally, Pro Tools sessions and audio can be seamlessly interchanged between Mac OS and Windows NT systems.

Because the Pro Tools PCI hardware is platform independent, the Pro Tools|24 systems will be packaged as single, cross-platform products that include both Windows NT and Mac Pro Tools software, greatly simplifying the purchasing process. The Pro Tools software interface looks and functions almost identically on both platforms, allowing Mac users to operate the system immediately on Windows NT. The same session files can be created and opened instantly on either Mac- or Windows NT-based systems, enabling seamless interchange between these platforms without any file conversion.

Nearly all Digidesign TDM and AudioSuite Plug-Ins as well as the popular Focusrite d2 and d3 will be Windows NT compatible at shipment, with others following shortly. Most other Digidesign Development Partner Plug-Ins will be Windows NT-compatible at or soon after the release. (Please check with individual manufacturers for availability.)

Windows NT-compatible software for Pro Tools|24 systems will ship mid-October '98. Support for Pro Tools|24 MIX and Pro Tools|24 MIXplus systems on the Windows NT platform will be available on December 1, 1998. In addition, Digidesign will be offering complete turn-key solutions for the Pro Tools|24 product family on Windows NT. Please check with Digidesign for further details.
