Sonorus Provides 96 kHz Recording Hardware Solution with DAW9624

September 26, 1998

Sonorus, Inc. has paired their award-winning STUDI/O(R) ADAT computer interface card with new A/D and D/A converters utilizing 96 kHz technology to introduce a truly cost effective state of the art recording system, the Sonorus DAW9624.

The DAW9624 system features Sonorus's 8 channel 24-bit 96 kHz AUDI/O(R) AD/9624 & DA/9624 converters, which are coupled with STUDI/O(R) This powerful combination brings affordable high-quality audio to a wide range of recording and editing software users. Capable of running a variety of third-party Mac and PC 24-bit 96 kHz software packages, the DAW9624 system can be configured as a general purpose multichannel DAW, or as a CD/DVD mastering, foley, or film sound workstation. Current applicable software packages include Cubase VST/24, Samplitude 2496, SAWPro, Wavelab, and a variety of plug-ins such as Waves Native Power Pack and others. Additionally, the DAW9624 system is compatible with all 48 kHz and 44.1 kHz software packages.

The widely acclaimed STUDI/O 16-channel 24-bit digital audio interface utilizes a remarkable technique of "multiplexing" the audio stream for 96 kHz applications. This allows for the doubling of the sample rate while using the same bandwidth, thus halving the number of audio channels. With a simple driver upgrade to the STUDI/O Version 2.0 driver, users can switch their STUDI/O card from the regular 16-channel 24-bit 48kHz mode to "8-channel 24-bit 96 kHz mode." Current STUDI/O owners will be able to download the STUDI/O Version 2.0 driver at no cost from the Sonorus web site.

"Because 24-bit 96 kHz technology is the name of the game, DAW9624 represents the next logical step in the evolution of STUDI/O," comments Sonorus president Marc Lindahl. "DAW9624 is a seriously amazing system that delivers high performance, affordable 96 kHz recording capabilities." The DAW9624 system from Sonorus, Inc. is the first of its class at this price point. Suggested retail price for AUDI/O AD/9624 and AUDI/O DA/9624 is $2,995US, each. The suggested retail price of STUDI/O is $849US.
