September 26, 1998

Yamaha Corporation of America, Professional Audio Group, announces the introduction of the affordable X Series Power Amplifiers at AES '98. The XS250 offers 170 watts per channel at 8 Ohms (250W/ch. at 4 Ohms, 500W at 8 Ohms, bridged mono). The larger XS350 delivers 230 watts per channel at 8 Ohms (350W/ch. at 4 Ohms, 700W at 8 Ohms, bridged mono). "The X Series amps come in both low-impedance and 70/100-volt models and are available at a very attractive price. We're sure there's going to be a strong demand for them."

All X Series models are Class AB amplifiers, 3RU tall and feature XLR and barrier strips on the inputs and barrier strips and 5-way binding posts on the outputs (models XS250 and XS350 only). All amplifiers feature both filter and mode switches. For the XS250 and XS350 models, the filter positions include: Off, Subwoofer and Low Cut; mode positions are: Stereo, Parallel and Bridged Mono. For the XH150 model, filter positions are: Low cut and High cut; mode positions are: 100V or 70V. The X Series amplifiers feature standard EI-type power transformers and rear attenuators.
