The Arboretum Realizer effect, now with more than 175,000
users of its consumer versions, is being brought to the Windows DirectX and Mac
VST plug-in platforms. The DirectX version of Arboretum Realizer was demonstrated
for the first time in Arboretum's booth at the Audio Engineering Society conference
in New York with a Mac VST edition to follow.
"Porting the Arboretum Realizer to DirectX and VST was just a natural
extension of the wild success we've had with the Winamp and SoundJam MP editions."

people who loved hearing it in their MP3 player and wanted to plug it into their
professional editing software. We designed it with Internet audio in mind, but
it's simply a great sounding effect that can add pizazz to any recording or track."
Compressed Internet audio files - MP3 and other formats - suffer from chronic
fidelity losses in the high end plus washed out bass and a collapsed stereo image.
Arboretum Realizer pinpoints these issues with its three processing stages:
- Bass Maximizer - Brings back that full round bass, even compensates for the
shortcomings of small computer speakers.
- Harmonic Exciter - Adds startling amounts of high end sparkle and luster.
- Ultra Stereo - Creates a dramatic widening of the stereo image, beyond the
limits of your speakers.
Arboretum Realizer utilizes the same proprietary algorithms found in Arboretum's
professional Hyperprism products but with a simplified interface and reduced parameter
set, designed for Internet audio enhancement.
Unlike conventional equalizers and bass/treble controls, Realizer actually
adds missing low-end frequencies, expands the stereo image and synthesizes new
harmonics to recreate the sizzling realism of the original recording. Beyond just
Internet audio restoration, Arboretum Realizer can be used as one would any exciter,
bass maximizer or stereo widening effect in the course of computer based multitrack
audio production.
Arboretum Realizer works with AIFF, WAV, SDII, MP3 files, streams, CD audio
and any other audio format as supported by your choice of editing program. Arboretum
Realizer is completely user-configurable and includes a number of factory settings
designed to bring the most out of each musical style.
Arboretum Realizer plug-ins for the Windows DirectX plug-in format and the
VST plug-in format on the Mac are scheduled for Q499 availability and will have
a suggested US retail price of $74.95, international pricing may vary. System
requirements to be determined, Windows 95/98/NT or MacOS 7.6 or later supported.
Registered owners of Winamp And SoundJam MP Realizer qualify for discounted upgrades
to the DirectX and VST versions.
