Digidesign's MasterList CD Supports More Drives,
Faster Write Speeds
September 28, 1999
Extending the reach of a professional CD mastering solution
within a digital audio workstation environment, Digidesign announced today the
availability of MasterList CD v2.2 software for Mac OS. The version 2.2 upgrade
adds 6x and 8x write speed capability, and support for a number of new CD-R drives,
including the latest from Plextor, Teac, and Yamaha.
With MasterList CD and a Digidesign-approved CD-R drive, master-quality CDs
can be created. These masters may be used for professional CD replication at a
manufacturing plant, or for the production of small CD runs with a CD-R duplicator.
MasterList CD may also be used to create one-off reference discs, personal archives
of music, audio samples, or effects discs. With the addition of a Digidesign digital
audio workstation, ranging from the entry-level Digi Toolbox XP, to Digi 001 for
home studios, to the professional line of Pro Tools|24 MIX products, a mastering
facility becomes a full-featured recording platform, using high quality audio
monitoring that facilitates critical listening for final inspection and audio
adjustments.
Offering professional features for optimized recording, MasterList CD allows
individual track level adjustment, non-destructive crossfades, and PQ sub-code
editing. In addition, MasterList CD's host-based audio playback and processing
capabilities (introduced in version 2.0) is improved to enable direct writing
at 6x and 8x speeds, now allowing users to produce professional quality CD-DA
masters at these higher speeds. Newly supported SCSI-based CD-R drives include
the Plextor PX-W8220T, PX-W4220T, and PX-820T; the Teac CD-R58S and CD- R56S;
and the Yamaha CRW 6416. With this upgrade, these recorders join the extensive
list of available drives meeting Digidesign's strict quality and performance standards.
MasterList CD v2.2 is available now as a free web download upgrade for registered
owners of v2.1, 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. An upgrade kit (including installer disk and
the latest documentation) is also available to registered MasterList CD users
at the price of $45.00 (U.S.).
