E-mu Announces B-3 and Techno Proteus 2000 Sound ROMs

October 18, 1999

E-MU / ENSONIQ has announced two more expansion sound ROMs for their Proteus 2000 Sound Module. The Proteus 2000 Sound Module is a 128 voice rack-mount sample playback module with four internal ROM slots that can address up to 128MB of ROM space. The two new sound ROMs include the Definitive B-3 by E-MU (model number 9083, retail price $349) which provides a comprehensive collection of sampled tone wheel organ sounds, and the Techno Synth Construction Yard by Rob Papen (model number 9084, retail price $349) which delivers an array of modern dance sounds including pads, leads, basses, and drums from one of Europe's leading sound designers. The sound ROMs should both be available now.

B-3 ROM captures nuances of tone wheel organ

The new Definitive B-3 ROM from E-MU contains hundreds of organ samples, captured with 24-bit precision, both direct from the output of the pre-amp (allowing users to process the raw sounds through a motion simulator processor or mechanical rotary speaker) as well as through a rotary speaker with both slow and fast settings. The samples were done in conjunction with John Novello from the band Niacin, whose personal organ was used for the project.

Techno Synth Construction Yard ROM provides complete set of dance sounds

The new Techno Synth Construction Yard ROM set by noted Dutch sound designer Rob Papen provides finely crafted samples and presets which are an essential part of today's cutting-edge dance music. Offering an array of sounds that include synth basses, leads and pads, as well as classic electronic drum sounds, this ROM set is designed to appeal to the Proteus 2000 owner who is interested in the sounds that are making people move in clubs all across Europe.

More Sound ROMS on the way

The company also announced an update on their much anticipated Symphonic ROM set project. This massive project, which is now in its second year of development, will result in a comprehensive Orchestral CD-ROM sample library for the Emulator 4 line of samplers, as well as a series of sound ROMs for the Proteus 2000. The company declined to state a shipment date, but hinted that there will be a major announcement within the next 6 months.
