Antares Auto-Tune Goes Multi-Channel on Mackie's
D8B
October 3, 1999
Mackie Designs and Antares Audio Technologies today announced
that the much-heralded Auto-tune plug-in will now be available on multiple channels
of the Mackie Digital 8*Bus console. Auto-Tune is a fully automatable software
plug-in that provides the ability to correct the pitch of a voice or solo instrument
without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance
of the original performance.
Antares Vice President of Business Development Neil RiCharde commented, "We're
very excited about our partnership with Mackie. The idea of offering Auto-Tune's
real-time pitch correction capabilities in a digital console makes a lot of sense.
Mackie's digital board is clearly the only digital console that can make such
a combination possible."
The Mackie Digital 8*Bus is the first console with an open software architecture
designed to run third-party software plug-in applications. What are the advantages
of the $499 Auto Tune plug-in inside the Mackie D8B? Mackie chief software engineer
Bob Tudor points to three: "Being able to view the clear, easy-to-use interface
on the D8B's full size SVGA monitor, audio gets to tape after it's been corrected,
and third, micro-adjustments can be automated using hands-on controls instead
of a mouse -a huge advantage when correcting melodies that have modulated to other
keys or modes."
Mackie Vice President of Marketing, Dave Firestone adds: "Antares very
cleverly utilized each $399 UFX card to render four separate channels of Auto
Tune. That's an unparalleled amount of pitch-correction for the money." An
example: One could pitch correct all the Spice Girls for the price of Britney
Spears.
A Mackie UFX card is required for plug-in operation. One UFX card can run
up to four plug-ins. Up to four cards may be installed in the Digital 8*Bus for
a total of 16 simultaneous 3rd-party plug-ins.
Antares Audio Technologies is renowned as a developer of innovative, DSP-based
audio software and hardware, including the ATR-1 Intonation Processor and the
forthcoming AMM-1 Microphone Modeler, as well as the award-winning Auto-Tune (Pitch
Corrector), MDT (Multi-band Dynamics Tool) and JVP (Antares Voice Processor) DSP
plug-ins.
