TC Introduces Plug-ins for the Mackie Digital
Systems Platform
October 3, 1999
In a much anticipated development, TC Electronic and Mackie
Designs confirmed today TC will release a suite of effects for the Mackie D8B,
the first open architecture digital console to accept third party plug-ins.
TC Electronic became a mainstay of modern recording studios with their 2290,
M5000 and M2000 effects. In the process, "TC" developed a reputation
for producing some of the most precise and gloriously musical reverbs to ever
come off a chip. But what's the best part of the partnership for D8B customers?
A portion of the TC effects offering will be included free with the new $399 Mackie
UFX card. One UFX card can run up to four plug-ins. Up to four cards may be installed
in the Digital 8*Bus for a total of 16 simultaneous 3rd-party plug-ins.
Specifically, TC Reverb (Reverb 1 and Reverb 2 from the TC M2000) will come
on all Mackie UFX cards. "TC FX", an expanded set of reverbs plus Delay,
Chorus, and Pitch, will come as an optional package. Both levels of software will
run one TC effect per UFX card. A further-expanded set dubbed "TC 2000"
adds Reverb 3, CORE reverb, de-essing, extended user interface and more. With
this level of software, two TC effects will run on each UFX card in the console.
"Our Digital Systems customers have been looking forward to having TC
effects in their D8B's for some time, so we're delighted to make this partnership
news official" said Mackie CEO Roy Wemyss, adding, "This is just the
beginning of a great collaboration."
