Rocket Networks Ships RocketControl and
SDK 2.0 to Developers
October 4, 1999
Rocket Network - the first and only network of Internet Recording
Studios that allows audio professionals to meet online, collaborate and produce
original audio from anywhere in the world - today announced the shipment of RocketControl'
and API SDK 2.0 to audio software developers. Rocket Network has also launched
its 2.0 Internet Recording Studio network and a redesigned Web site in conjunction
with the release.
Rocket Network's new releases will allow development partners to complete and
test new RocketPower versions of their products on the highly scalable and
reliable 2.0 Internet Recording Studio network. The new network and RocketControl
2.0 will be available to end-users when RocketPower applications from Steinberg,
Emagic, and other leading audio developers become available.
"We are extremely excited to announce this major milestone in the deployment
of our revolutionary network," stated Willy Henshall, chairman and founder
of Rocket Network, Inc. "We now have the infrastructure in place to allow
thousands of artists worldwide to produce professional-quality work online."
Key features of RocketControl 2.0, SDK 2.0, and the new Internet Recording
Studio network include:
- Cross-application, cross-platform: RocketControl works with any audio application
with RocketPower on both Mac and PC. Users can collaborate with different applications
on different platforms in the same Internet Recording Studio.
- Digital Audio: Internet Recording Studios support Digital Audio in any format,
as well as MIDI and proprietary data types.
- CODEC Support: RocketControl 2.0 currently incorporates the QDesign Music
CODEC (QDMC) with planned support for MP3 and several other popular technologies.
- Online, secure storage: Private Internet Recording Studio users have access
to online, secure storage for work-in-progress or finished projects.
- Access and Permissions: Private studio owners maintain complete control over
participants access and permissions in an online session.
- Web integration: Registered Rocket Network users can access instant messaging,
discussion forums, and other convenient collaboration features through their free,
personalized "My Rocket Network" home page.
Internet Recording Studios will be available for lease to individuals through
several online partners later this year. Broadcasters, post production companies,
recording studios, Web design firms, and other audio-related businesses can lease
their own Studio Center - a cluster of branded studios integrated with an existing
Web site - directly from Rocket Network.
