PRESS RELEASE
| Roland Announces R-BUS Digital Audio Format
September 25, 1999
Roland Corporation U.S. is proud to introduce R-BUS, a
digital audio format capable of sending and receiving 8-in/8-out of up to 24-bit
digital audio using 25-pin D-sub terminals. Used exclusively by the Roland V-Products,
like the new VSR-880 rack mount hard disk recorder and VM-7000-Series and VM-3100Pro
V-Mixers, R-BUS can also be converted to different audio formats like ADAT(tm)/Tascam(r)
T-DIF, providing additional flexibility and expansion possibilities.
In addition to the transfer of digital audio, R-BUS also permits sending MTR
sync/control information and can handle electrical power for phantom powering
of ADAT/Tascam T-DIF interface boxes. R-BUS will be incorporated into a variety
of upcoming Roland products, and additional interface boxes (such as R-BUS to
analog and R-BUS to AES/EBU digital audio) are planned for future release.
