Yamaha Announces 56-Input M3000 Mixing Console
September 28, 1999 Yamaha is expanding on the
M3000 sound reinforcement mixing console series with a new 56-input version. The
announcement was made at this year's Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention
in New York. The 56-input version is highly suitable for nightclubs, theaters,
houses of worship or regional touring applications.
The new addition to the M3000 Series features 56 mono inputs, 4 stereo inputs
and 4-band EQ with sweepable and modifiable Q for high-mid and low-mid frequency
ranges. The Yamaha Group/Aux Diversity System (GADiversity) features a 16-channel
bus configuration. With these 16 channels, the user can group up to eight outputs
with the other eight outputs functioning as auxiliary outs.
"The new M3000 56-input mixing console is a natural extension to the highly
regarded M3000 Series," said Larry Italia, national sales & marketing
manager, Commercial Audio,Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo
Division. "Sound companies, contractors and consultants have been looking
for a 56-input version to meet a broad range of applications while providing excellent
sound quality at an affordable price point."
The M3000-56 allows the user to configure signal flow in several ways providing
unique flexibility to the console. The console is versatile in that the user can
use eight group outputs and eight aux outputs, or in combination of six as group
outputs and ten as aux outputs, or even all 16 as aux outputs.
Sixteen mix outputs feature switchable Pre/Post for each group of four mix
channels. The eight matrix outs of the 16 mix buses and the stereo bus plus two
sub-in buses add convenience and flexible monitoring.
The M3000-56 features eight VCA groups and eight Mute groups. When one or
more channels are assigned to a VCA, control of channel level via the pre-amp
stage is accomplished. Since the audio signal does not flow through the VCA master
fader, providing an extremely clean audio path with no added noise, distortion
or crosstalk is maintained.
Through the Scene Memory function (channel on/off), the user can store and
recall up to 128 scenes. Eight direct recall switches and a ten-key keypad are
available for assign and recall of any scene or through MIDI program change messages.
Interface to MIDI-controllable signal processors provides automatic effect selection
for scene recall.
"The M3000-56 provides the sound reinforcement engineer with high-end
features and superior sonic performance," said Dan Craik, product manager,
Commercial Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division.
"The 56 mono input configuration allows for better flexibility with more
configurations in a high-quality console."
Independent switchable 48-volt phantom power, -60 dB to -16 dB gain control,
a comprehensive talkback system and test oscillator are included. The M3000 features
12 VU meters, with meters 1-8 assignable as mix out or matrix out. A PW3000M power
supply is included and provides full power monitoring.
