Power Station
  July 14, 1995Spirit is showing its Power Station to the
music industry market at NAMM. The unique Power Station is a rack-mountable, ten-channel
powered mixer with features and a performance previously unavailable in an integrated
mixer product. "The Power Station represents a dramatic departure from the
typical powered mixer," says Lane McNess, Spirit technical support manager. "We
first designed it to provide recording-quality performance and then incorporated
a world-class, two-channel power amplifier. We additionally added a Lexicon effects
processor to create the ultimate powered mixer." The mixer section features
eight mic/line balanced inputs and two stereo inputs with two stereo outs. A two-track
return and send is also available for recording applications. A switchable pre/post-aux
buss with "FX" direct internal Lexicon assign is incorporated on each of the Power
Station's ten inputs. The channel equalization features a hi-pass filter (18 dB/oct
100 Hz) plus high- and low-fixed and sweepable mid-band. A dual seven-band graphic
equalizer on the output also provides patching to aux for monitor EQ. The unit's
power amplifier is capable of delivering 300 watts per channel with a THD specification
of less than 0.01%, which is virtually unheard of in a powered mixer. The Power
