MOTU Ships Digital Performer 2.11 UpdateInludes Korg 1212 Support and eVerb, real-time reverb plug-in  December 11, 1997
Mark of the Unicorn, Inc. (MOTU) is now shipping Digital Performer 2.11, which adds significant new features to MOTU's flagship MIDI sequencing and digital audio recording software. New features include support for the KORG 1212 I/O PCI card and a new high-quality reverb plug-in called "eVerb".
"Version 2.11 is a landmark release for Digital Performer users because it now supports third-party PCI audio cards while running Digital Performer under the MOTU Audio System," said Jim Cooper, Marketing Director at Mark of the Unicorn. "Digital Performer users now enjoy the best of both worlds: our recently introduced hard disk recording engine - called the MOTU Audio System, which gives them real time effects plug-ins and as many audio tracks as their Mac can handle, along with high-quality analog and digital I/O supplied by the KORG 1212 and Digidesign Audiomedia III cards. For example, Audiomedia III users used to be limited to 8 channels of audio. Now, with Digital Performer 2.11, they can play up to 40 or more channels of audio on today's fastest Power Macs."
In terms of inputs and outputs, the KORG 1212 I/O PCI audio card supplies Digital Performer users with 8 channels of ADAT optical I/O, two channels of analog, and two channels of digital S/PDIF I/O. The Digidesign Audiomedia III card supplies Digital Performer 2.11 with four simultaneous inputs and outputs (2 analog and 2 digital S/PDIF).
Digital Performer 2.11 also introduces eVerbTM, a new real-time effects plug-in for Digital Performer included with every copy. eVerb provides exceptionally high quality, 32-bit, PowerPC native-processed reverb with an intuitive, graphic user interface. eVerb includes two separate reverberators for low and high frequencies with adjustable crossover, along with initial reflections, which acoustically model different types of spaces, such as large halls and small rooms. eVerb joins a host of other plug-ins included with Digital Performer, including dynamics processing (compressor, expander, limiter, gate), echo, flange, chorus and more.
