PRESS RELEASE

NetWave.org To Hold Conference on Internet Audio Distribution

January 1, 1997

NetWave.org, a newly founded non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and discussion of issues involving Internet audio distribution, will be hosting NetWave, a conference that will present the legal and technological aspects of Internet audio distribution and allow for audience participation in open forums of discussion. Universal Digital Media LLC, a new internet startup to legally distribute CD quality audio tracks, will be supporting the conference with donated capital and labor.

Netwave will fill the large communication gap between parties involved in Internet audio distribution. The conference will bring all sides together in a meaningful explanation and discussion format. Such open discussion is a requisite for the progress of technology to have the full and informed backing of musicians and record labels alike. It is NetWave's hope that they will not only showcase the technology that will bring forth 21st-century audio quality, but also bring forth the mutual enlightenment that will allow such excellent technology to be applied to the greatest benefit of all.

The conference will be on the weekend of November 7th to 9th at the Park Plaza Hotel San Francisco, a complimentary shuttle ride away from San Francisco Airport. With an estimated attendance of 150 to 200 individuals, ranging from musicians to students to record labels to the hottest Internet audio technology vendors, NetWave is expected to cover the unique olio of powerful technologies and difficult issues that define the modern state of Internet audio distribution.

Students will be admitted and housed for free, with a suggested $25-$50 donation, musicians will be admitted for $100 each, and the general public and corporations will be invited for $175 each. Vendors can set up an exhibition booth to display and vend their goods and services for $800, which includes 3 complimentary registrations. Registration will include several meals, full conference registration, and lifetime listening rights to the recorded audio on our web site. The conference will be broadcast live over the Internet using streamed MP3 audio from Telos Systems. Participants can register by mail or through a secure web site.

Universal Digital Media was founded in mid-1997 to pioneer distribution of free, legal, CD-quality audio tracks over the Internet. Its founders, David Weekly and Steven Oskoui, are both attending Stanford University. They are currently finalizing a deal with an unnamed major record label, and have several other deals with major labels and individual artists in the making.
