Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 Supports V8{deck}

Cakewalk Music Software has announced that the upcoming major upgrade [Editor's note: Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.0 was released on May 1, 1997] to their MIDI sequencing and digital audio recording application, Cakewalk Pro Audio, will feature support for the Digital Audio Labs V8 multitrack workstation platform. Users will be able to record edit process and mix using the V8 architecture's realtime mixing, automation, and DSPs all from within the Cakewalk Pro Audio software interface. Cakewalk's implementation will include support for all V8 peripherals, use of the V8's mixing and routing engine, and full compliance with the V8's DSP plug in architecture.

The V8 is a set of cards and rack mount peripherals that turns a PC into a multichannel digital audio recording, editing, and mixing studio. A fully loaded V8 system is capable of up to 16 channels of disk playback, 16 channels of I/O, and over 300 MIPS of DSP processing. Software to operate the V8 is available entirely from third party application and plug-in developers. System pricing for the V8 starts at $2500 plus software.
