E-mu Systems Releases E-Synth 16 MB Sound ROM for Emulator 4 Samplers

Adds onboard sounds to E4 sampler family

May 16, 1997E-mu Systems®, Inc., today announced the release of E-Synth(TM) ROM; a 16 MB sample ROM, that plugs into the Emulator® 4 family of samplers. The sound set includes a vast array of instruments with 16 MB of CD-quality samples.

E-Synth ROM gives instant access to hundreds of sounds

"E-Synth ROM provides instant access to 16 MB of professional quality onboard sounds," explains Sean Wilhelmsen, Product Manager for MI products at E-mu. "This adds new power and flexibility to the Emulator 4 family of products by providing a high quality assortment of sounds that are instantly available," adds Wilhelmsen.

The E-Synth ROM works with any of the Emulator® 4 family of products. The family includes the E-IV, e64, E4X, e6400, E4XT, E4K, and E4KT models of samplers. Installation is quick and easy for rack mount product owners, and keyboard owners can have the ROM board easily and inexpensively installed by a factory authorized service provider.

EOS software allows sampler to become a powerful synthesizer

E-Synth ROM relies on a special version of E-mu's Emulator Operating System (EOS) software. This software adds all the necessary support features for the board, including the ability to create presets from the onboard sounds and store them in nonvolatile memory. "The EOS software, in combination with the E-Synth ROM board, turns an E4 into an advanced synthesizer and adds a whole new dimension to the product, especially for live use," states Bryan Lanser, Product Planning Manager at E-mu. In commenting how the product was designed to be compatible not only with current E4X products but also original E-IV technology, Lanser adds, "We believe this is another example of how E-mu's philosophy of maximizing our customer's investment makes E-mu products a wise choice."
