MxTrax is First Approved V8 Software
April 7, 1997
Digital Audio Labs has awarded their first "Audio Gearhead Approved" seal of V8 application compatibility to MxTrax, the multitrack recording and editing program from Minnetonka Software. Gearhead approval certifies that a piece of software is completely compatible with the V8 hardware components and DSP interface and that the software will work seamlessly with other Audio Gearhead Approved applications and DSP plug-ins.
MxTrax, written expressly for the Digital Audio Labs V8, is a complete studio in a PC, including unlimited virtual tracks, an elegant routing and automated mixing environment, and complete audio and transport control of Alesis ADATs and compatibles. MxTrax takes full advantage of the V8's unique system architecture, allowing the user to build entire mixers up from individual components like pan pots, aux sends, and busses. V8 compatible real time DSP plug ins can then be dropped on mixer channels or busses and automated at will. Editing is easy yet full featured, with individually resizable tracks, drag and drop object and region based editing, and multiple open projects.
"We're excited to be first to market with a Gearhead Approved application," said John Schur, president of Minnetonka Software, "The V8 platform is extraordinarily powerful and tailor made for third party software integration. It was the obvious choice for MxTrax." The V8 is a set of cards and rack mount peripherals that turns a PC into a multichannel digital audio recording, editing, and mixing studio. A fully loaded V8 system is capable of up to 16 channels of disk playback, 16 channels of I/O, and over 300 MIPS of DSP processing. Software to operate the V8 is available entirely from third party application and plug-in developers. System pricing for the V8 starts at $2500 plus. MxTrax is priced at $599.
