Sonic Foundry Presents ACID Music December 4, 1998Sonic Foundry® (Amex: SFO), a developer and marketer of digital audio software for the Windows platform, has announced the release of ACID(TM) Music, a powerful new PC software package that allows both computer enthusiasts and musicians alike to easily create a broad assortment of professional-sounding music.
ACID Music provides users with access to an incredible library of more than 600 prerecorded clips of sound (loops) of percussion, guitar, bass, horns, and keyboards to create musical styles like rock, jazz, pop, dance, techno, funk, and hip-hop. In addition, users of Sonic Foundry's recently announced ACID Rock and ACID DJ products can import loops that were created for those programs as well.
With ACID Music, creating truly unique musical selections is exceptionally easy. Users merely select the loops, use a simple click-and-drag approach to incorporate them into the song, and then play them back. Using this comprehensive onboard digital studio, users can even mix and match loops to create recordings with an unlimited number of tracks. To ensure professional-quality sound, ACID Music synchronizes the tempo and key of the loops so they sound absolutely perfect. In addition, ACID Music allows users to easily add their own instruments or vocals to their music creations by simply plugging into their PC soundcard.
ACID Music incorporates a number of professional features as well, including dynamics processing that ensures perfect mixes through the use of automatic volume and pan controls, and an enveloping function that allows fade-in and fade-out effects to be applied to specific loops and specific times. The software can also support effects processing like reverb, echo, and delay when used in conjunction with Sonic Foundry's optional ExpressFX plug-ins (these are not DirectX plug-ins - DirectX plug-ins can only be used with the original version of ACID - MSRP $399). With ACID Music, users even have the flexibility to save tracks to .WAV or .ASF (NetShow) file formats for use in other applications like web sites, multi-media presentations, or on CD.
ACID Music requires a Pentium 133 microprocessor (for real-time effects a Pentium II processor is recommended) or Alpha AXP microprocessor, Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 or later, a Windows-compatible sound card, VGA display, CD-ROM drive, 32MB of RAM, and 5MB of hard-disk space for program installation.
ACID Music sells for a suggested retail price of $99, with an estimated street price of $79. It is now available for purchase from a wide assortment of both computer and music retailers nationwide. Visit Sonic Foundry on the web at www.sonicfoundry.com. |
