Allen & Heath Launches DR66 Digital Mix Processor
March 31, 1998Modeled after the innovative DR128, Allen and Heath's new DR66 is the company's latest digital product offering for the systems installation market.
Housed in a single 1U chassis with removable ears for rack or desktop mounting, the DR66 combines a six-input, six-output crosspoint mix matrix with a host of additional facilities, including parametric and graphic EQs, limiters, levels, ducking, compressors, gates, phase switching, real-time clock and alarm override. At each input and output, the installer may choose from a wide variety of signal processing facilities, every bit as professional as those of traditional industry rack units. The DR66 is uniquely versatile in that it enables sound contractors to bid farewell to the painstaking wiring of multiple rack units, as well as eliminates the need for numerous products that require large amounts of rack space.
Featuring eight user-definable soft keys and an LED screen on the front panel, the DR66's user interface is graceful in its simplicity. Keys may be assigned functions as simple as a volume control or as complex as a complete system configuration change depending on the user's needs. Password protection can also be activated, making the DR66 entirely tamper-proof.
System resources are allocated via Allen & Heath's WinDR System Manager software. WinDR is a Windows 95 application using familiar techniques and displays for easy configuration.
