CreamWare Releases New Specs for SCOPE System
June 14, 1998The final version of CreamWare's SCOPE DSP-System, an open platform for sound creation, signal processing and studio integration as first seen at the Frankfurt MusikMesse in February, will be much more powerful than initially forecast.
CreamWare is utilizing a new model of the SHARC DSP, that is 50% faster than the type used in the alpha system at the Musik Messe. Instead of 6, there are now 15 DSP processors on the base board! (that's 2.7 Gigaflops!)
One of the I/O choices incorporates an additional 4 SHARC DSPs and offers 20 I/O capacity. Each base SCOPE card is capable of 64 I/O. A 20 I/O setup provides a peak performance of 3420 MFLOPS and can even be expanded by adding more SCOPE boards using the high-speed SCOPE TDM (time division multiplex) bus. According to CreamWare, configurations of over 100 DSPs will be possible. The SHARC DSP is the fastest floating-point processor available today.
More good news for future SCOPE users: despite the exponential growth in features and power, CreamWare has not changed the price point. SCOPE is projected to ship in October, 1998 starting at approximately $6,500.00 US MSRP. For more information, visit their web site at www.creamware.com. |
