AES Amsterdam - Introducing brand-new technology for the pro-audio professional, Steinberg is very proud to present the new and full featured NUENDO for Silicon Graphics Computers.
Silicon Graphics Computers are renowned for their amazing horse-power and reliability. Movie professionals all over the world use Silicon Graphics Computers to create breathtaking animations and visual effects for the latest movies. Now NUENDO is here and will be shipping in Q4, 98.
Steinberg's NUENDO combines native audio processing with EQ, real-time effects, VST-compatible PlugIn architecture, and up to 256 tracks of digital audio, plus MIDI recording and editing, into an easy to use application. NUENDO will give the sound designer everything necessary to create impressive audio projects to match some of the amazing video work being done.
Audio can be recorded, processed and played back in any desired professional format:
44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, and 96 kHz and 16, 20, or 24 bit.
Audio processing is performed entirely with floating point accuracy. This guarantees highest possible dynamic range. The processing can be done in realtime, with the open PlugIn architecture, or offline. The PlugIn architecture is supported by a wide range of PlugIn manufacturers.
The system offers expandability -- for example using an Octane with three ADAT cards you can record 32 tracks in one go. (The Octane Machine comes with one built-in ADAT card).
NUENDO also supports Studio Central, an open framework for media asset management. Creating, searching, editing and archiving of media data is fully organized. This is very important when working in teams over the network. The creative people can query the asset management database for version histories, application histories and much more. This enables the engineer to undo edits across NUENDO sessions.
While the entire recording project lives on a server, several NUENDO front ends can be run on different machines. One person can be doing the dialogue editing, while another works on sound FX, and a third is busy synchronizing music to the video with frame or sample accuracy.
Apart from this you will definitely find all the essential tools from sample editors, loop functions, infinite undo/redo, fades - just about anything you require for professional audio post-production. Plus, you can add remote control with consoles like the Sony P2 or Mackie HUI. You can also import OMF projects directly. NUENDO provides video integration with movie tracks using SGI's advanced video technology, extensive automation features with graphical editors, and advanced synchronization options including MTC and LTC master/slave.
And - because you were asking for it in New York - Yes, NUENDO has MIDI now!
NUENDO will be available in Q4, 1998 for USD 2900.
