PRESS RELEASE

Opcode to Develop Its Notation Software Products In-House

April 28, 1998To vastly improve quality control and to accelerate scheduled release dates for its notation software products, Opcode Systems has announced that the company will no longer market products under the Overture brand name and, at the same time, has shifted future product development in- house.

Opcode owns the rights to proprietary source code that is derived from Overture and plans to integrate professional notation features into its core products, including Studio Vision Pro, as well as release stand-alone notation software for both Macintosh and Windows computer platforms.

The company adopted these fundamental changes to facilitate its development of new notation applications, in response to customers who raised quality issues associated with the Overture notation software product over the years.

"Opcode has, from day one, remained deeply committed to providing its customers with leading-edge, highly-reliable products, including notation software packages" said Chris Halaby, President of Opcode. "In the case of Overture, Opcode has had very little control over product quality, particularly in the development phase. Our new direction gives us direct influence over development, and permits us to offer our customers the quality notation products they desire, and when they desire them."

"We strongly believe Opcode customers will be extremely pleased with what the future holds," Halaby adds. "Our next- generation notation products will deliver power, performance and ease of use at unheard-of prices."
