ENSONIQ Releases PARIS Software Version 1.56Version 1.56 Provides New Features and ADAT Hardware Support - Plus Enhancements to Version 1.5 June 28, 1998
Fresh on the heels of the recently released version 1.5 comes the release of version 1.56. This is the sixth major upgrade to the PARIS hard disk recording studio since it's debut in the Fall of 1997. This free upgrade is available to both MacOS and Windows 95 users at the ENSONIQ PARIS web site at: www.paris.ensoniq.com. Users can choose to download software directly to their PARIS system, or make floppy disks that can upgrade PARIS systems that do not have direct access to the internet.
PARIS software version 1.56 follows the recent release of version 1.5, which introduced the much anticipated 128 track playback capability. Perhaps the most significant feature offered in version 1.56 is the support for the new ADI, ADAT Digital Interface module for the Interface MEC, (Modular Expansion Chassis). The new ADAT MEC Module features two 8 channel light pipe connectors allowing for the optical digital transfer of 8 tracks of audio to and from PARIS. In addition, a 9 pin sync interface allows the synchronization of up to 16 ADAT recorders directly from PARIS. PARIS owners with a MEC Interface and ADI MEC Module will have access to the ADAT Interface Window. This new window provides control over signal routing, arming of ADAT recorders, as well as synchronization and transport control.
Version 1.56 also adds enhancements to version 1.5, and offers several significant new features. Mixer Window channel settings can now be copied and pasted into other SubMixes in a project. SubMix channel settings, once copied to the computer clipboard can also be pasted to a SubMix in a different Project. A Global Master fader has now been implemented. This lets the user control the level of all the SubMixes in a project, either in real time or by using the mixer automation feature. Another significant upgrade is the introduction of Live Mixing Mode. PARIS users can now monitor and mix live input channels, (up to 16) from the PARIS hardware through the Mixer, enabling the PARIS mixer to be used as a live mixing console, complete with EQ, effects, insert effects and console automation. It is even possible to create a stereo recording directly from the live input mix. A Mixer Insert Object has been added to the Patch Bay to allow patching of external devices, such as a tube compressor, into an individual Channel as an Insert.
