PRESS RELEASE

Mesa/Boogie Announces the Rocket 44(TM) Combo

September 9, 1998Have Tone - Will Travel! As with all Boogie's, the Rocket 44 is all about serious tone! It is also serious about "gig-able" power in a lightweight, portable 1x12 combo package. Inspired by two of our most popular amplifier designs to date, the Rocket 44 crosses over the "street legal" limits by combining the "high flow" preamp section from our Subway Reverb Rocket, matched to the dynamic, touch sensitive "horsepower" of our patented DynaWatt power section from the world renowned DC-3.

The Rocket 44 features two footswitchable channels, each featuring simple gain and master controls, covering the gain flow from "lean" to "rich" - And, for those players looking to pull maximum "g's", kick in the supercharged, footswitchable "Contour" mode and prepare to be thrust toward the brink of "red line"! These two channels have been voiced to match a single row of our custom "long throw" rotary Tone (Bass, Mid and Treble) and Spring Reverb controls. These controls provide a much broader and more accurate degree of tone and ambience shaping, which makes finding your personal "sweet spot" fast and easy!

Playing through the Rocket 44's DynaWatt power section is like being granted a musical "6th sense." It virtually anticipates the attack of your pick, providing amazing responsiveness, while adding dynamic headroom far in excess of it's conservatively rated 40 watts. It's four EL-84's serve up the tones with an authoritative punch, featuring tight, percussive bottom end, rich harmonic mids and a crisp, chiming top end. So, whether it's rehearsal or the gig, the Rocket 44 will take you where you want to go!
