California Series(TM) Pickups from Lace Music
Products
July 2, 1999
Lace Music Products has introduced the next generation of pickups with its
California Series(TM) that emphasizes noise-free design and enables guitarists
to capture the "Hollywood Sound."
"We wanted something that would contrast to the well-known 'Texas twang'
sound," said Don Lace Jr., head of Actodyne General, the parent of company
of Lace Music Products. "We wanted something that sounded a little more energized,
a little more urgent, yet sophisticated."
The single-coil version of the pickup -- The California Special(TM)
runs the gamut from delicate highs to deep bottom end. The multi-patented California
Special also boasts improvements that virtually eliminate outside noise while
providing guitarists with good string balance and response.
The humbucker pickup in the new series is called The California Convertible(TM).
It offers coil tapping, coil splitting, phasing and series parallel versatility.
In split mode, it delivers the effervescent "sparkle" of its single-coil
cousin.
The California Special is available with white or black covers. The PAF size
California Convertible is available with chrome, white, or black covers. Each
pickup features the name of the pickup in golden bronze.
The suggested retail price for the California Special is $79.95 and the single
coils are available in a special three-pack for $189.90. The California Convertible
humbucker has a suggested retail price of $89.95.
