Three New Cymbal Finishes From Meinl
July 20, 1999
Within the Custom Cymbal Shop® program, the One of a Kind models represent
Meinl's hand hammered range of instruments. These cymbals not only have a unique
sonic character, but are available in three distinctive finishes and completed
by a special lathe-tuning process.
The Mirror Finish is a highly polished surface with additional lathe-tuning
grooves, while the Champaign Finish has a mat golden hue which is highlighted
by the lathe-tuning grooves. The third option is the Antique Finish, which is
a darkened black surface on the top as well as on the bottom which is highlighted
to brilliant where the cymbal surface is lathetuned.
In each finish choice, the final lathe-tuning process allows the craftsman
to adjust the sonic spectrum of overtones. This range of instruments allows the
discriminating drummer to choose cymbals with extremely different sound characteristics
in the same size instrument, based on the finishing technique. This is a special
feature only offered thru Meinl - worldwide.
