NemeSys Music Technology, Inc. today announced availability of Version 1.6 of the revolutionary GigaSampler, featuring enhancements to the GSIF ultra-low latency audio interface and increased functionality. This upgrade will be offered free to registered GigaSampler owners via the NemeSys web site (www.nemesysmusic.com).

Based on Conexant's (formerly Rockwell Semiconductor Systems) patented EndlessWave™ technology, GigaSampler has won awards and accolades from nearly every musical instrument industry publication - including Keyboard magazine's prestigious KeyBuy award.

Version 1.6 provides new features and expanded compatibility, allowing GigaSampler to be smoothly integrated into an even wider variety of PC configurations.

New features include:

  • Sixteen 24-bit output channels (four more than version 1.52)
  • Ability to save/load multiple instruments to a specified MIDI channel
  • Ultra-smooth crossfading and mixing for use with controllers and layers
  • Auto-loading MIDI files in conjunction with Conexant's 500MB General MIDI library
  • Ability to load multiple performances via drag-and-drop
  • Improved voice-allocation algorithm

Also included in this release is full integration with NemeSys' GSIF audio interface. This interface is designed to support the extremely fast (5 - 8ms) MIDI-to-audio latency requirements of the professional sampler and sound module market. With its extremely robust and easily implemented architecture, GSIF facilitates the patented EndlessWave™ streaming engine that serves as the basis for GigaSampler and has been embraced by leading soundcard manufacturers such as Frontier Design Group, Soundscape, Aardvark, Event Electronics, Ego, Guillemot, and others.

Soundscape Releases Updated Mixtreme Drivers

With the release of free V1.05 software for Mixtreme 16-channel PCI card, Soundscape now includes direct low-latency drivers for GigaSampler in native GSIF format, plus the addition of Surround mixing and panning elements to support the new Dolby Surround Encoder/Decoder plug-in. These drivers can be found on the web at www.soundscape-digital.com.

Mixtreme V1.05 drivers are multi-client, which means that different applications using a combination of the GSIF, ASIO and MME devices can share the 16 channels of I/O provided by Mixtreme. Multiple cards can be installed in the PC and they happily share IRQ's, so there's a multiple card solution even when PC resources are tight.

Soundscape's Technical Director Chris Wright emphasizes, "Mixtreme and GigaSampler together provide a great combination of the best samples available, top quality real-time effects and multiple digital or analog I/O's. This system can rival or beat the performance of hardware samplers that are several times the cost and with a software based solution, this will continue to improve with new features."

Frontier Design Group Announces Native Dakota Support

Frontier Design Group's highly integrated Dakota PCI soundcard, combining multi-channel digital audio, MIDI, and synchronization all on a single PCI card. Supporting both 16-bit and 24-bit operation, Dakota uses industry-standard ADAT and S/PDIF I/O, so you can connect with digital mixers, ADAT and DAT tape machines, and professional A/D-D/A converters like Zulu and Tango24 (also from Frontier Design Group). The integrated MIDI interface means that you can connect your keyboard and start playing, without having to install a separate MIDI interface. Jim Roseberry at Studio Cat Productions says, "Dakota works GREAT with GigaSampler! I've had GigaSampler running for about 24hrs over the last couple of days... and not a single hiccup."

Version 2.03 of the Dakota device drivers introduces native support for GSIF, and is downloadable from the Frontier Design Group web site (www.frontierdesign.com).

Barry Braksick, software developer at Frontier Design Group, notes "We're always seeking to improve the performance of our products. Including the GigaSampler Interface with our Dakota card has provided a way to take it to a much higher and more integrated level. What I'm most excited about are the multi-channel output capability and the 24-bit sampling - features that you used to be able to find only in the most expensive dedicated samplers. Now with GigaSampler and Dakota, these capabilities are available to anyone with a PC-based audio workstation!"
