Generalmusic's LEM Debuts Full K Speaker Line

April 6, 1999 Generalmusic’s professional audio division, LEM, proudly introduces a complete family of compact and lightweight loudspeakers known as the K Series. Despite their size, K Series loudspeakers are engineered to provide exceptional sonic quality, efficiency and reliability.

Designed for permanent and portable applications alike, the K Series range is comprised of the K3 12-inch, two-way system, K6 15-inch, two-way system and KL single 15-inch subwoofer. For added versatility, the systems are also available in active versions, featuring integral power amplifier modules with crossover and anti-clip circuitry.

K Series cabinets are trapezoidal in shape, permitting them to be used either individually or in arrays of multiple enclosures. Ruggedly built, all models are constructed of 12-ply Baltic Birch with steel grills and finished in scratch-resistant paint. The polyurethane front panels not only provide a high-tech, stylized appearance; they also provide physical protection and enable the systems to be easily serviced. Several mounting options are possible via standard fly points for M8 threaded hardware, as well as standard pole mount receptacles. K Series enclosures are ideal for a variety of sound reinforcement applications including live music, touring sound, fixed installation, houses of worship, mobile DJ, system rentals, clubs and discos.

The use of custom-designed coaxial loudspeakers enables the K Series systems to deliver high-sound pressure levels clearly, while maintaining their compact size. Constant dispersion on the horizontal and vertical axis (60° x 60° ) provides a flat and linear response while minimizing phase problems. This also allows the systems to be used in a variety positions, delivering constant coverage and high-fidelity reproduction to any part of the audience.

K3

A compact, arrayable trapezoid enclosure, the K3 two-way system is designed to accurately reproduce vocals as well as playback of prerecorded source material. The 12-inch, 300-watt woofer coupled to a one-inch coaxial horn delivers smooth and even response while providing a tight bass. The high frequency section delivers a controlled beam width at 60 degrees in both the vertical and horizontal plane. The K3 has an internal passive crossover for full-range operation, or can be easily switched for bi-amp powering. K3s can be used as satellites with the LEM KL subwoofer, providing high output extended-range sound. It can be easily mounted utilizing standard pole mount receptacles or two standard flying points for M8 threaded hardware. The dual-purpose angled cabinets allow the K3 to be used as a wedge floor monitor, simplifying inventory requirements of sound and rental companies. Input and Link connections are made via Speakon connectors.

K3A

The active version of the K3 features a built-in 300-watt power amplifier with limiter circuit with anti-clip function (bypassable) for speaker protection. K3A enclosures feature Neutrik Combo connectors for the input section and Neutrik Powercon connectors for the power supply.

K6

The high-output, two-way trapezoidal K6 features a 600-watt woofer coupled to a 1.5-inch coaxial horn. The K6 is ideally suited for applications requiring high sound pressure levels and extended bass response. The coaxial horn delivers a controlled dispersion pattern of 60 degrees in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The system also has an internal passive crossover and can be bi-amped. When used with the LEM KL subwoofer, this system provides a full-range sound with incredible detail and dynamic range. Like the K3, the K6 can be easily mounted using standard pole mount receptacles or two standard M8 flying points. The dual-purpose angled cabinets allow the K6 to be used as a wedge floor monitor, simplifying inventory requirements of tour sound and rental companies. Input and Link connections are made via Speakon connectors.

K6 Pro

The K6 Pro is the same as the K6, but with four six-point flying bars (top and bottom) and internal reinforcement.

K6A

The active version of the K6 features a built-in 550-watt power amplifier with limiter circuit with anti-clip function (bypassable) for speaker protection. The K6A enclosures feature Neutrik Combo connectors for the input section, and Neutrik Powercon connectors for the power supply.

KL

The KL subwoofer features a high-efficiency, high-output, 600-watt 15-inch woofer. The system can be used to extend the low frequency response on the K3 and K6 or other loudspeaker systems. The KL features two input modes: Filtered Mode, which activates a low-pass filter, and Direct Mode, for use with an external crossover. The KL sub’s low-pass filter can be activated for mono operation. The enclosure features the same 12-ply Baltic Birch construction with steel grill, and offers a pole mount receptacle and two standard M8 flying points.

KL Pro

The KL Pro is the same as the KL, but with four six-point flying bars (top and bottom) and internal reinforcement.

KLA

The active version of the KL features a built-in 600-watt power amplifier with active stereo crossover and limiter circuit with anti-clip function (bypassable) for speaker protection. The KLA’s active crossover offers variable frequency and can be set up in stereo for two satellites using one KLA as a common subwoofer, or in mono for use with individual KLAs dedicated for left and right. The KLA enclosures feature Neutrik Combo connectors for the input section, Neutrik Powercon connectors for the power supply, and Powercon Link connectors for powering satellites.
