Sonic Foundry Introduces M.A.P. 2000 Music
and Audio Production Package
April 23, 1999
Sonic Foundry (AMEX: SFO), a leading developer and marketer of media authoring
tools for the Windows® platform, today introduced M.A.P. 2000, a complete
Music and Audio Production (M.A.P.) package designed to provide increased productivity
for media authoring professionals. A versatile, fully integrated Windows-based
system, M.A.P. 2000 contains all of the tools required for creating professional
media content in formats ranging from broadcast television and radio to Web streaming
media applications.
The M.A.P. 2000 package features combined functionality from three of Sonic
Foundry's most popular and powerful programs, ACID(TM) PRO, Sound
Forge® 4.5, and
CD Architect® 4.0. ACID PRO is a multi-genre loop-based content creation
tool used for authoring royalty-free compositions, which can then be edited using
Sound Forge 4.5, an advanced audio media editing environment that supports
both Microsoft's Windows Media Technologies 4.0 and RealNetworks' G2 file formats.
From there, CD Architect records audio files on audio CDs in the Red Book format,
resulting in a professional sounding CD pre-master ready for duplication. This
complete set of content creation, editing, and delivery tools is accompanied by
28 CDs of content: 22 loop libraries and six special effects CDs.
In addition to the ACID PRO, Sound Forge 4.5, and CD Architect applications,
the M.A.P. 2000 package also features a full set of DirectX Audio Plug-Ins that
provide real time, high performance effects. The package's Noise Reduction filtering
tool is equipped with the Broadband Noise filter and the Vinyl Restoration filter,
which allow users to isolate and eliminate unwanted signals from background noise
and older recording format impurities, respectively. In addition, M.A.P. 2000's
innovative Acoustic Mirror plug-in provides the ability to apply the unique acoustic
signatures of assorted venues to compositions in editing.
The M.A.P. 2000 system also features the 18 tools of the practical XFX plug-in
series. The XFX 1 plug-in pack can be used
to add reverb, chorus, and time and pitch shifts, while the XFX
2plug-in bundle purifies and manipulates vocal tracks and compresses and equalizes
recordings. The XFX 3 plug-in applies wah-wah, distortion, and vibrato effects
and also permits waveform contouring and smoothing.
The feature-packed M.A.P. 2000 includes several technical attributes that make
it an invaluable Web media production tool as well. Updated to support Microsoft's
recently announced Windows Media Technologies 4.0 streaming media platform, M.A.P.
2000's technical capabilities also include the capacity to handle video as well
as audio, batch conversion of data via Sound Forge 4.5, and support for streaming
media applications.
"Professionals in all areas of broadcast media production will appreciate
the creative flexibility and productivity improvements the M.A.P. 2000 system
offers," said Doug Nestler, Sonic Foundry's Director of Retail Business Development.
"This is a comprehensive tool that can conveniently take a project from creation
through delivery, saving time while maintaining the highest level of creative
potential."
