E-MU Announces MP3 Web Authoring PC Bundle

EMU-ENSONIQ has announced a new computer MP3 Authoring bundle that allows
musicians to create music with a PC and then encode the finished tune for publishing
on the Internet in the MP3 audio format. The E-Card / Nomad MP3 Production Studio
bundle comes complete with everything a musician needs to record, sequence, edit,
process, master, encode and download music from the web. The bundle consists of
the E-Card, a PCI card for the PC that has 64 voices of MIDI sampling, hardware
based FX, and ASIO compliant hard disk recording; a full suite of software that
allows musicians to create, edit, and encode their music; and the Creative Labs
NOMAD MP3 player with 64MB of Flash memory.
The NOMAD player allows you to download over an hour of near CD-quality music
into the player and take it with you, listen to FM broadcasts, and even use the
built in microphone to capture that riff before its forgotten. Tying the package
all together is the MP3 authoring guide that includes complete instructions on
how to turn your songs into MP3 files and a comprehensive guide to music on the
web. The package is expected to be available early August in North America only
and carries a list price of $750.
E-Card provides professional quality sampling, hard disk recording, and effects
The heart of the E-Card / NOMAD bundle is the E-Card, a PCI format card for the
PC that provides 64 channels of SoundFont compatible sampling, multi-track ASIO
compatible hard disk recording and hardware effects - everything you need to create
a song using MIDI sequencing and hard disk recording, and then mix it down to
a final two track master. The card features professional quality 20 bit digital
to analog and analog to digital conversion, along with 1/4" balanced analog I/O,
stereo coaxial S/PDIF digital I/O, and a MIDI expansion connector for interfacing
with controller keyboards and other MIDI gear.
Comprehensive Software Bundle and Tutorial provide "How To" instruction
The E-Card / NOMAD bundle comes with a complete suite of software and a step by
step tutorial that allows for music creation, mastering, and encoding using your
computer. The Steinberg Cubasis AV MIDI / Digital Audio Recording software provides
for complete music making, and mixing down is facilitated using the E-Control
software from EMU Editing is supported using the WIEN SoundFont editing software
and Sound Forge XP digital audio processing software. Finally, creation of the
MP3 file is done using Music Match software which supports creation of MP3 files
from your own material or from CDs that you may have already created. The MP3
Authoring Guide included in the package will show you what to do every step of
the way, along with what to do with your files after you are done.
NOMAD Player completes the package
Completing the package is the NOMAD MP3 player which allows you to download
the music you have posted on the web and listen to the music on the go. This player
features 64MB of Flash memory for over 60 minutes of near-CD quality playback,
as well as an FM tuner and built in microphone with memo function (record song
ideas, interviews, or voice memos, and transfer them to the computer for later
use or refinement). The player comes with 64MB of Flash memory that retains its
information even without batteries, and the convenient card format allows you
to swap out other memory cards on an as needed.
