Hamer USA Introduces "Newport" Hollow
Bodies
May 25, 1999
Hamer USA of New Hartford, CT. has been producing hand crafted guitars for
over 25 years. With their success of their semi-hollow body Artist Series, Hamers
logical next step was to produce a true hollow body guitar - something their fans
have been asking for a long time.
Introducing the Hamer "Newport" series. The Newport features an
ivoroid bound Honduras mahogany neck and body with a hand carved, arched spruce
top with two f-holes. The guitars great tone is augmented by two Hamer "Phat
Cat" single coil pickups, hand-built in Seymour Duncans custom shop.
The size of the "Phat Cat" pickup is designed so that the player may
easily switch to a humbucking pickup without having to alter the pickup cavity.
This model comes stock with a Tune-o-matic bridge and Bigsby vibrato. Grover Super
Rotomatic tuners and a Transparent Orange sparkle finish add to the Newports
cool vibe.
For the player that requires a humbucking pickup, Hamer will also offer the
"Newport Pro." This model has the same features as the Newport except
with two Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups and a Tune-o-matic bridge with a stop
tailpiece. Remarked Frank Rindone, Hamer Product Manager, "Its one
of those guitars that when you see it youll say, Ive got to
have one ". The retail prices of the Newport and Newport Pro are $1999.00.
The GC-4 hardshell cases retail at $145.00.
