Wave Arts, Inc. Releases Virtual Surround Plugin
for Winamp
June 3, 1999 Wave Arts, Inc., a leading developer
of high end 3D audio and acoustic environment modeling technologies, announce
the release of WaveSurround, a powerful virtual surround plugin for the
popular MP3 player, Winamp.
Wave Arts, Inc. has developed WaveSurround in conjunction with Human
Machine Interfaces, Inc., a developer of high performance audio API's
and applications including the InMotion 3D Audio Producer. WaveSurround
greatly enhances the listening experience by placing the listener "inside"
the stereo mix. The surround field may be adjusted by simply moving virtual
speakers around the listener.
"Virtual
surround technology allows listeners to experience a much larger sound field from
a standard set of stereo loudspeakers," said Nick Skrepetos, C.E.O. of Human
Machine Interfaces. "By enhancing the quality of MP3 files, the user is rewarded
with an immersive and compelling listening experience on their desktop."
"We are very excited to be part of the MP3 revolution that is sweeping
the industry," said Dr. Bill Gardner, Ph.D., C.E.O. of Wave Arts.
"The WaveSurround plugin will set a new mark of excellence and performance
for MP3 enhancement technology."
The technology featured in the WaveSurround plugin is the result of extensive
research and development by Wave Arts over the past ten years. The plugin
features state-of-the-art signal processing techniques including HRTF
binaural processing and sophisticated cross-talk cancellation technology.
A demonstration version of the WaveSurround plugin is available for immediate
download from www.wavearts.com. After 4
hours of processing audio, it must be authorized for continued use. The authorization
fee is $9.95.
