Original Dean Patterns Recovered! August 21, 2000All of the original Dean Guitar routing and shaping patterns have been found
and returned to Dean Musical Instruments, Clearwater Florida. "They are
authentic and in fine shape" according to company founder Dean B. Zelinsky.
"Many have my original handwriting on them from 1976." The patterns had been
out of the companies hands since the closing of the original Chicago plant
nearly fifteen years ago. They were located and returned courtesy of Shawn
Crowley, one of the countries biggest Dean Guitar connoisseurs.
"It couldn't have come at a better time" said company President Elliott
Rubinson. In conjunction with the return of Dean Zelinsky, the company will
be debuting the reissue of the original Dean V, Z, ML and Cadillac models at
this winters NAMM Show in Anaheim. "Now we can be assured that the reissues
will be exact" said Rubinson. These models will be made in the USA with the
original unique Dean neck design and the rounded over binding. Features that
were so instrumental in Dean's virtual overnight success in the late 70's
and early 80's. In addition, each of these limited edition guitars will have
a #10 flame maple top, original electronics and will be individually signed
and authenticated by Dean himself.
While the Dean USA models will be offered through Dean's existing dealer
network, the company plans on added distribution through vintage guitar
retailers and dealers that specialize in boutique guitars worldwide.
