Samson Audio Announces New Expedition Series Powered Monitors
 May 26, 2000One of Samson Audio’s new product introductions, Expedition Series is a two-way loudspeaker enclosure available in three different versions: passive, powered and powered with built-in mixer.
Expedition offers smart solutions for clubs and performance halls, mobile DJ use, houses of worship, corporate rentals, fixed installations and any application where portable audio is required. Exceptionally portable, Expedition enclosures all feature a telescoping handle and locking wheels.
Rugged, Expedition enclosures are injection-molded with Polypropylene construction with substantial internal bracing supporting the nearly 1/2" thick side wall construction. Convenient fly- points, a steel grille and a scuff-resistant textured finish ensure extreme versatility, ruggedness and dependable performance.
The EX10 is a passive enclosure equipped with a custom designed, Kevlar-impregnated 12" Low Frequency driver with a 2.5" voice coil and a 49 oz barium ferrite magnet for accurate bass response. The High Frequency section’s 1" compression driver uses a specially designed phenolic diaphragm and elliptical wave guide horn design and a phasing plug to produce a linear response with a clear, sweet top end.
The EX20 is an active enclosure that produces a total of 200 watts RMS. It also includes an active crossover and built-in limiting. The EX20 features three stages of speaker protection plus relay switching for power up and power down. The onboard limiter circuit ensures a clean output even when pushed to maximum levels.
The EX30 is an active monitor with a built in stereo mixer and digital effects processing. The 4-channel mixer features two Mic/Line channels and a Stereo Channel with a mic pre. Also included are RCA inputs that allow the user to easily interface a CD player, MiniDisk or Tape player. The internal DSP effect section has six digital reverb presets that range from a touch of room ambience to lush halls.Expedition 2-2-2
To supplement the system’s audio capabilities, the optional EX500 Subwoofer produces 500 watts RMS of power for powerful and accurate low frequency reproduction with a custom designed 15" driver and built-in stereo electronic crossover.
Expedition Accessories include the RB20/30 rechargeable battery kit, the TD30 cassette recorder/player with pitch control and a variety of Samson wireless systems that offer superior RF and audio performance already proven on stages around the world. A supplied adapter plate mounting bracket makes it easy to hang Expedition Series enclosures on walls or ceilings, and they’re compatible with industry standard fixtures such as Omni-mounts.
