Veillette Introduces MK-IV-M Magnificent 7Acoustic/Electric 7-string guitar
December 12, 2000Veillette Guitars presents a
7-string guitar which boasts rich piano-like tone,
with proper string tension and balanced sound never before available on
this type of instrument. The Veillette MK-IV-M
7-String acoustic/electric guitar features a 26 1/16-inch scale length
that allows the low 7th string to vibrate fully without
sacrificing the tone and feel of the other strings.
The MK-IV-M 7-String is a compact, lightweight and
well-balanced electric/acoustic semi-solidbody with a
one-piece hard rock maple neck and 24-fret wenge fingerboard. A
zero-fret allows for perfect intonation and easy
experimenting with string gauges. Neck width at the nut is a comfortable
2 inches, other widths available. A unique neck joint
arrangement provides remarkable stability while using a single large
machine bolt. The poplar body with figured maple top is
cutaway for unimpeded upper fret access.
Electronics feature the
terrific Alvarez System 500A piezo-electric bridge
transducer (modified for 7 strings) and preamp for pure acoustic tone at
any volume without feedback, plus a Kent
Armstrong 7-string custom Jazz magnetic pickup for a full range of
electric tones. Controls include volume, pickup blend and
3-band active EQ, mounted on the top side of the body. For fat, round
jazz sounds, warm and woody acoustic tones, or
bright electric sizzle, the Veillette MK-IV-M 7-String is a vibrant and
lively instrument offering unparalleled versatility.
Rugged construction of quality materials, structural integrity and
functional simplicity of design combine to create an innovative
instrument with remarkable resonance and sustain. Rich acoustic tone and
great feel make the Veillette MK-IV-M 7-String
an inspirational tool for the serious musician.
The Magnificent 7 and the complete line of Veillette Guitars, including
6 & 12-string baritone guitars, nylon-string baritone
classical guitar and 4 & 5-string fretless basses, will be exhibited at
Winter NAMM, Booth 5280, Hall B, Anaheim
Convention Center, January 18 - 21, 2001. Veillette Guitars are
hand-made by Joe Veillette in Woodstock, NY. A
co-founder in the 1970s of Veillette-Citron Guitars, a former partner of
Stuart Spector and maker of the Veillette "Shark" Electric Baritone
Guitar, Joe Veillette was co-designer with Michael Tobias of the Alvarez
Avante series of acoustic guitars, baritone guitars and basses, and is
also the designer of the "Deep Six" line of bolt-on baritone conversion
necks marketed by WD Music Products.
