Gadget Labs Ships Wave/496 Audio Interface for 24/96 Recording
 June 6, 2000Gadget Labs announced today that it has
begun worldwide shipments of the Wave/496 digital recording interfaces. As
the latest member of the WavePRO product family, the Wave/496 brings a new
level of price/performance to Windows and Mac desktop music recording.
Additionally, the Wave/496 greatly enhances the quality of streaming audio
for Internet broadcast applications.
Comprised of a PCI audio card, interface patch box, and software drivers,
the Wave/496 supports 24-bit, 96 kHz digital audio and integrates easily
with popular analog and digital studio equipment. It comes standard with 4
input channels and 4 output channels for analog-to-digital recording and
playback. The half-rack sized patch box incorporates active electronics to
ensure low-noise and connects with either balanced or unbalanced audio gear
at +4 dBu or -10 dBV signal levels. A MIDI interface is included for
connection to synthesizer keyboards or MIDI-controlled gear. The WavePRO
family ships with robust driver support for Windows 95/98, Windows NT4,
Windows 2000 and ASIO. For the Mac, both ASIO audio and OMS MIDI driver
standards are supported under OS 8 and OS 9.

The Wave/496 includes special features that deliver flexibility and
upgradeability. First, it includes a clock sync connector for sharing the
master digital audio clock (256x super-clock) between multiple WavePRO
interfaces. All interfaces work together as a single unit with locked
timing and no audio drift. Second, the Wave/496 includes a special,
"daughtercard" connection for adding optional digital audio features,
specifically ADAT light pipe, Word Clock and S/PDIF.
