Yamaha Professional Audio announced the availability of Version 2.0 software for the award-winning AW4416 Digital Audio Workstation, beginning in early Fall 2001.
The Version 2.0 software package includes an upgrade to full MIDI implementation, allowing the AW4416 to function not only as the front endbut also as remote MIDI controllerfor the industrys top computer-based recording systems, and will also enable the direct recording of MIDI-based instruments. This new feature set includes: Remote with Automation; Parameter Change/Bulk Dump; and Assignable MIDI Control Change.
The upgrade also includes full implementation for the Y56K high-performance DSP add-in processor card from WAVES. The Y56K inserts into either of the two Mini-YGDAI slots on the rear panel of the AW4416, expanding the units recording, mixing and mastering capabilities.
Other upgrades include simplified, "Quick Record" view screen graphics, which provide easy access, on-screen input patching. An "Assignable Function Key" allows the user to assign any frequently-used function to any "F" key, thereby increasing their functionality.
"With the addition of full MIDI implementation, the AW4416 now has the benefit of being both a self-contained workstation and a flexible MIDI controller," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Yamaha Professional Audio, "making it the ideal tool for projects developed in either standard or computer-based environments."
AW4416 owners can register online to receive the free upgrade, or return their customer cards by mail. Those who are already registered will automatically receive the upgrade.
The Yamaha AW4416 contains full 32-bit DSP capabilities (similar to the Yamaha 02R digital console), 44 fully-automated audio inputs, 17 motorized faders, four fader and mute groups, eight bus and eight aux sends plus stereo, stereo cue busses and a front-mounted CD-RW drive, which enables mastering as well as loading and/or backing up data. An integrated 16-track recording systemcomplete with sampling, editing and mastering capabilitiesretains true 24-bit, 48 kHz resolution without data compression of any kind. The unit is currently available at an MSRP of $3,799.
"Both current and future AW4416 customers will greatly benefit from this upgrade," adds John Schauer, product manager, Professional Audio, "as it expands the functionality of the product." For more information, visit their web site at www.yamaha.com. |
