From German company MUTEC come two new digital audio format and sampling
rate converters, the Format Changer multichannel AA and ta. The "AA" version includes ADAT and AES/EBU interfaces, the "TA" version includes TDIF and AES/EBU
interfaces. Both units are capable to handle audio material with up to 24bits. All interfaces are designed to convert 8 channels
simultaneously.
The Format Changer multichannel AA could be used to add 8
channels of AES/EBU coming from an ADAT Bridge, while the Format Changer multichannel TA can do the same for Tascam's DTRS recorders or TMD digital mixing.
These easy-to-use format converters are capable of converting both formats in only one direction or bi-directional in real-time.
In addition, 8 channel sampling rate conversion can be activated in all conversion modes. The units will
synchronize their sampling rate converters to an external Word Clock or Super Clock signal (automatically detected).
Furthermore, the clock signal could be extracted out of one of the incoming audio signals. In the AES/EBU section one channel
can be selected as sync-reference.
If the Format Changer multichannel AA or TA is used as a format converter only, the sampling rate converters will be
disabled using a hard-bypass.
Power supplies are built-in their aluminum cases. Installation in a rack system can be accomplished with optional rack mounting kits.
