Gibson Montana Debuts J-190 Super Fusion Acoustic/Electric
February 9, 2001For years, guitarists seeking an instrument that offered both acoustic and
electric sounds had limited choices....either an acoustic guitar with a
piezo pickup, or a semi-hollow body guitar with a single/double coil pickup.
Now, Gibson Montana has introduced the best of both worlds with the new
J-190 Super Fusion Model, a handmade acoustic guitar with BOTH an
under-the-saddle acoustic transducer pickup as well as an electric single
coil pickup.
This extremely versatile guitar is designed to combine Gibson's legendary
archtop jazz and semi-hollowbody sounds with Gibson Montana's unmatched
acoustic sound. This is accomplished via the user-friendly three way toggle
switch, which lets the guitarist choose between the electric single coil
pickup, the acoustic pickup, or a blend of both simultaneously.
The J-190 Super Fusion can sound unplugged, plugged in, or somewhere in
between, and its playing comfort makes it the perfect guitar for the whole
gig.
The handmade, J-190 Super Fusion features a solid sitka spruce top, arched
figured maple back, flamed maple sides, an ebony fingerboard with
mother-of-pearl split block position markers, a 24 3/4" scale, single coil
neck pickup, active acoustic transducer under-bridge pickup, two volume and
one tone control knobs, and the three-way toggle switch pickup selector.
In addition, the J-190 Super Fusion's single-coil pickup was specifically
designed to blend beautifully with the guitar's saddle transducer to create
a new and exciting experience for guitarists who constantly cross the
barrier between acoustic and electric playing styles.
Each Super Fusion is shipped from Gibson Montana with medium light, nickel
wound strings which not only enhance its electrified sound, but also gives a
player the freedom of performing on a handmade acoustic guitar that feels as
comfortable as an electric guitar.
The guitar is available in Antique Natural, Vintage Sunburst, and Antique
Cherry finishes. For more information, visit their web site at www.gibson.com. |
