September 28, 2001 Universal Audio announced the
release of the M610, a mono tube preamplifier based on their popular 2-610
dual tube microphone preamplifier. Both models draw their inspiration from
the 610 console designed by Bill Putnam, the original founder of Universal
Audio.
The M610 utilizes the 2-610's circuitry, tube set and transformer design (which
features double alloy cores and advanced winding techniques). The M610 also
includes direct inputs, phantom power and selectable boost/cut controls.
Capturing the same sound of the 2-610 and the revered 610
console, the M610 is suited for applications requiring a mono pre-amp or
those seeking the characteristics of a tube mic pre on a limited budget.
The M610 is a 19" 2U rack unit. Available now through Universal Audio
dealers and distributors worldwide, the M610 sells for $1295 MSRP.
