May 21, 2001Steinberg Media Technologies announced the new NUENDO Studio System One for the Macintosh platform. This complete production
solution is aimed at the audio for film, video and interactive media markets.
The Nuendo Studio System One offers a complete audio production solution consisting of the
Nuendo Software, the Nuendo Surround Edition, the Nuendo PCI 96/52 and the Nuendo 8 I/O.
The Nuendo Media Production System is a modular system centered on an audio software
application for Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Apple Macintosh platforms, which includes several
hardware accessories.
Nuendo features up to 200 tracks of digital audio in 16, 24, 32bit with
samplerates from 44.1 kHz up to 96 KHz, advanced-featured surround mixing, a Video-Track,
MIDI-Tracks, along with the most comprehensive functions for digital audio available.
The Nuendo Surround Edition is a collection of 6 realtime surround plug-ins with up to 8
channel capability, designed for daily use in post-production work. Since the needs in a
surround environment differ quite significantly from the classic two channel world, Steinberg
Spectral Design have developed this plug-in collection specifically as tools for the
specialised fields of film, theater, DVD and modern music production.
Nuendo PCI 96/52 is an audio I/O card for the Nuendo Media Production System offering up to 26
In/Ouputs. The Nuendo PCI 96/52 is the ultimate audio card for the Nuendo power user with 52
channels of audio featuring resolutions up to 24bit and sampling frequencies of up to 96 kHz.
Nuendo 8 I/O is an 8 channel analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter with reference
approach. Nuendo 8 I/O is a flexible, fully professional yet affordable, multi-channel
converter with 24bit resolution.
Nuendo uses native signal processing entirely, which means that every function is run from the
computer's host processor. Today's computer systems not only offer incredible processing power
that goes beyond DSP systems, but also offer unparalleled expansion capabilities. Standard
computer equipment can further enhance and upgrade the system. With native signal processing,
the user is not tied to an expensive DSP-System with its defined and fixed feature set.
Nuendo includes full VST 2.0 protocol support which not only offers access to the widest range
of effects-processing plug-ins available (over 250) from companies such as Waves, Spectral
Design, INA, Prosoniq and TC Works, it also opens the door to the world of Virtual Studio
Instruments such as the hugely successful Native Instruments Pro-52 and Waldorf PPG Wave 2.v
virtual synthesizers and many other third-party VST 2.0 compliant virtual instruments. Of
course Steinberg's software sampler HALion is fully compatible with NUENDO.Nuendo's capabilities are further enhanced via ASIO, Steinberg's Audio Streaming Technology,
which provides access to a broad range of high performance hardware and software products. ASIO
options include audio cards ranging from simple stereo I/O to those offering 48 individual I/Os
and 24 Bit / 96kHz quality and sample accurate synchronization.
Additionally, ASIO provides Zero Latency Hardware Monitoring and guaranteed sample-accurate
sync to external devices. NUENDO synchronizes video and audio devices via LTC, VITC and gives
