NI's Pro-52 Now Compatible with DXi, MAS, and DirectConnect

August 3, 2001

The Pro-52, Native Instruments' analog synthesizer emulation, has just reached version 2.5 which offers three new interfaces to achieve compatibility with all common sequencer and recording environments. In addition to the previous VST interface, DXi, MAS, and DirectConnect have now been added for integration into Cakewalk SONAR, MOTU Digital Performer, and Digidesign Pro Tools systems. DXi supports the operation and full automation of virtual sound generators under SONAR. Through MAS and DirectConnect, the audio signal of the Pro-52 can be routed directly into mixer channels of the host programs to be mixed with the internal effects of Digital Performer and Pro Tools, respectively. Of course, the Pro-52 will also retain its VST implementation.

The update also adds some new features. In the MacOS standalone version, version 2.5 of the Pro-52 will allows up to 8 instances to be used at the same time, each with its own MIDI channel. Version 2.5 now supports variable sample rates. Of course, all features of the recently released version 2.2 are included, including microtuned scales, modifiable controller numbers, direct program selection with the keyboard, and more.

The Pro-52 recreates one of the most beloved analog synthesizers of the 80's. In addition to the accurate reproduction of all functions of the original and its critically-acclaimed tone, the Pro-52 offers an effects section for flexible modulation and delay effects. The Pro-52 can load the original SysEx data of its ancestor and is fully controllable over MIDI. The Pro-52 includes a vast sound library that demonstrates its authentic analog character and makes it an absolute must for the modern analog fan.

The Pro-52 will be distributed worldwide by Steinberg, and first deliveries will be made in August. Registered Pro-52 users can download the 2.5 update for free as soon as it is available.
