TC Works announced that SparkLE, a new realtime audio editing and authoring application for Mac OS X, is
now available. The product is based on TC Works' hi-end audio processing application SPARK and supports
Mac OS X's Core Audio functionality. SparkLE has the same convenient browser view with easy access to the Project
Database, the Wave Editor and the Play List, all found in one window.
"SparkLE for Mac OS X will satisfy the most demanding media producers with its Real-time Master Section and included
Plug-In tools," comments Ralf Schluenzen, CEO of TC Works. "We believe that Apple's next generation operating system
deserves the attention of the audio market and we are committed to support this platform with our professional products."
"Mac OS X Core Audio integrates all audio functions directly into the operating system, enabling ultra low latency and superior
overall performance for the audio pro," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.
"SparkLE offers a polished user interface and we're excited about how this audio editor leverages the powerful audio
technologies of Mac OS X."
SparkLE is compatible with both Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. It also includes a Plug-In bundle with a Audio
Maximizer, a flexible Tempo Delay and a One Band EQ with selectable Notch, Low Pass, High Pass, and Parametric types of
equalization and a Master window with high resolution metering and 4 slots for real-time Plug-In processing.
The Play List section allows for fast, complex and non-destructive audio edits and CD project preparation. Key features are the
unlimited real-time cross fading and the export in Roxio Toast format for easy CD-burning. SparkLE also features enhanced
QuickTime movie support, enabling audio production for digital video with frame accurate and stutter-free movie playback and
instant resizing of the movie window.
All major audio file formats are supported -- from AIFF, WAV, SDII and MP3 to all file formats available thru QuickTime.
SparkLe includes MP3 encoding for web-authoring, featuring the original Fraunhofer codec for optimal results with bit rates up
to 320 kBit/sec.
SparkLE is compatible with VST Plug-Ins and features sample rates of up to 192 kHz and bit depths from 8 to 32 bit. The
real-time sample rate conversion even enables playback and editing of high resolution files without requiring optional
professional audio hardware.
