L.R. Baggs Introduces iBeam Active System Acoustic Pickup/Amp
April 19, 2001
LR Baggs Co. is beginning to ship the iBeam Active System this month. The iBeam Active System is the latest acoustic guitar amplification system from the company.
The iBeam Active System combines a patent pending bridge plate transducer, the iBeam, with an all-discrete class "A" endpin preamp that enables you to simply "plug-in-and play".
The user-installable iBeam reproduces the natural tone of an acoustic guitar while maintaining perfect string balance and providing full dynamic range. Included with each iBeam is a placement jig that allows you to install the pickup in minutes and get the ideal placement for the transducer inside the guitar.
LR Baggs installer Rick Rubin with Dutchs Music in Spokane, WA. had this to say about the iBeam, "The tone is unbelievable, or more appropriately, totally believable. Transparent, acoustic, balanced very true to the guitar." After trying out the iBeam himself guitar maker Tom Anderson replied, "Im used to playing acoustic guitar with a pickup and microphone. The thing that impresses me the most about the iBeam is that it had the best qualities of a microphone and a pickup without the negative qualities of either. The feel is spectacular and it responded just like the guitar. Its so unusual to get what you play but its like sitting in the perfect room playing the perfect guitar."
The iBeam Active System lists for $189 or you can purchase a passive iBeam with a stereo strapjack for $129. For more information, visit their web site at www.lrbaggs.com. |
