BSM's Treble Boosters Coming to North America

July 29, 2002

European Musical Imports is going to make available for the first time in North America, several products that are aimed at the discriminating electric guitarist: The HS, HS Custom and RM treble boosters from Germany's BSM.

The HS model is identical to the much sought after Hornby Skewes unit (manufactured in England in the late 60's) used by Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple both live and in the studio. The result of the Hornby Skewes into a Marshall Major amplifier is evident on the Deep Purple in Rock and Made in Japan recordings.

The HS Custom is identical to the HS except that it is fitted with a side mounted volume control.

The RM model is identical to the prized Dallas Range Master unit (manufactured in England in the 60's) used by Eric Clapton in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and early Cream (both live and in the studio) as well as Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi. The result of the Range Master into a JTM45 amplifier is evident on the Bluesbreaker's "Beano" recording, and into a Laney stack on the first two Black Sabbath albums. As the original, the unit is fitted with a side mounted volume control.

Treble boosters (such as the Hornby Skewes, Vox and Dallas Rangemaster) were utilized by many english guitarists (Eric Clapton, Brian May, Ritchie Blackmore, Rory Gallagher, David Gilmour, etc) to push their tube amplifiers into creamy distortion loaded with overtones. All BSM units use the European OC44 germanium transistors which are carefully selected and resin soaked over a three day period to guarantee tension-free stability, superior sonic characteristics, optimal performance and long trouble-free life. The circuits are true bypass and have been updated to comply with current standards as well as eliminate unwanted noise and radio interference inherent in the original 60's designs. All BSM Treble Boosters are handmade in Germany and offer a 5 year warranty.

Availability: September 2002

Retail Pricing:

  • HS $200.00
  • HS Custom $210.00
  • RM $210.00
