Strings/AKAI, Dan Dean Solo
Brass/AKAI, and Dan Dean Solo Woodwinds/AKAI, all in Akai's S-1000 format for all Akai and Akai-
compatible samplers. All three libraries use the same high-definition stereo wave files as the original GigaSampler versions, recorded with Dan Dean's proprietary techniques.
The company has pushed the envelope on these Akai releases by including
(instead of omitting) as many samples and layers as possible. In the case of multi-layered
instruments, they've split the various dynamic layers into separate banks, allowing the user
access to a much higher degree of sample data.
Dan Dean Solo
Strings/AKAI features chromatically
sampled Solo Violin, Solo Viola and Solo Cello in various articulations.
Each and every note of all of the instruments has been sampled and placed on the
keyboard. There is absolutely no transposition, pitch-shifting or stretching effects typically
found in other libraries. This feature creates digital instruments of the highest caliber,
where all the harmonics of each note are true. Another important feature of chromatic
sampling is constant body resonance. Any note can be played anywhere on the
instruments without any shift in body resonance.
A number of articulations, such as Arco Vibrato, Staccato, Pizzicato, Tremolo, Half-Step
Trills and Whole-Step Trills are included in each bank. The
library is priced at $199 (US).
Dan Dean Solo
Brass/AKAI is an 8 CD-ROM set with chromatically sampled,
multi velocity Solo Brass instruments - Solo Bass Trombone, Solo
Cimbasso, Solo Euphonium, Solo French Horn, Solo Trombone, Solo Piccolo Trumpet,
Solo Trumpet and Solo Tuba - in various articulations.
Articulations found in the collection include Non Vibrato, Vibrato (on Trumpet and Piccolo
Trumpet), Portato, Staccato, forte piano, and forte piano short, medium and long

Flute, Solo Oboe, Solo English Horn and Solo Piccolo, chromatically sampled,
multi velocity instruments.
