LinPlug has announced the release of the Delta III Matrix Synthesizer. The Delta III is a highly flexible, easy-to-use, third-generation VST analog-style synthesizer. The instrument is eight-part multitimbral, 32 note-polyphonic and features a modular and extendable design that currently includes three types of oscillators, three types of filters, two types of envelopes, and four different effects units.
At the heart of any analog-style synth is its oscillators. The Delta III's oscillators provide an extensive range of waveform types from classic analog to hardcore digital. The Delta III contains three types of oscillator: Digital 1, Digital 2 and Analog. Both Digital oscillators have a wide selection of waveform types available, from traditional pure electronic tones such as triangle and square waves, to cutting-edge modified waveforms like RichSaw and Spectra. Both digital oscillators have a unique morph control that lets you create a waveform that is a hybrid of two others. The Analog oscillator can be used to produce classic analog-style waveforms ranging from square to sawtooth. All three oscillators can be used for AM and FM synthesis. A noise source is also available for creating sound effects and percussive noises.
The Delta III features 2 separate filter modules that can be used in series or parallel. Special attention has been given to the design of the filters so that they replicate the rich sound of a true analog filter. Three filter types (Delta II, CronoX and Delta III) give the user a wide range of filtering options. Each filter is highly flexible with several variations of lowpass, highpass, bandpass and notch available. The Delta III filter is especially juicy.
The Delta III's sophisticated effects section consists of a mono and a stereo effects processor. Four effects are currently available: Delay, Chorus, Phaser and Filter. The Delay features tempo-syncing over a range of beat divisions. All effects have various modulation capabilities. The Chorus, for example, has a unique "Spread" control that can be used to create a richer, more-complex chorused sound.
The Delta III has four LFOs, all of which can be synced to the tempo of incoming MIDI messages. In addition, eight envelopes are available for controlling oscillator pitch, filter cutoff and amplitude. One envelope has been set aside as a general purpose control source. The user can choose between a 5-Stage envelope and an ADSFR-type.
A key feature of the Delta III is its Modulation Matrix. This "patchbay" allows you to create 8 custom routings from any of 24 modulation sources to 32 different modulation destinations.
All Delta III parameters can be controlled with an external hardware/software controller. Controller setup is very simple thanks to LinPlug's unique ECS (Easy Controller Setup) feature.
The Delta III comes with a library of 480 presets and a 48 page PDF manual to get you started.
System Requirements: VST2.0 capable host software, 300 MHz PC. Mac version will be available within 6 weeks.
The full license fee is US$ 99.90. The upgrade fee for registered Delta II users is US$ 24.00.
