Gibson's Custom, Art & Historic division is teaming with Donzi Marine, a division of American Marine Holdings, to produce a limited-edition Donzi Les Paul Classic guitar modeled after the Donzi Classic Series boat.
The guitar captures the streamlined visual elements of the boat, including the Donzi Classic royal blue paint scheme with white racing stripe and the recognizable Donzi shield depicting a lion and a dolphin. The hardware and pickups are chromed like Donzi hardware and the Donzi logo is inlaid in pearloid on the guitar's ebony fretboard.
Only 100 Donzi Classic Les Paul guitars will be produced, and a representative guitar will make the rounds at major boat shows for fans to admire and to "test drive." A custom-made wall cabinet with Donzi photo backdrop, hardshell case, Donzi Shield Certificate of Authenticity and a Custom Care Kit enhance the guitar's collectibility.
"We've already had an overwhelming response to this guitar, not only within our dealer network and our consumer base, but also from many of our celebrity musician friends," notes Nick Miller, vice president of Donzi Marine.
Gibson's Custom, Art & Historic division specializes in high-grade collectible guitars, ranging from replicas of famous Gibson models to special limited-run models to one-of-a-kind works of art. Visit the Gibson Custom Shop website at www.gibsoncustom.com.
The Donzi Classics first hit the boating scene when Don Aronow splashed his first Sweet 16 in Miami in 1963. Since then, three Classic Models in 16-, 18- and 22-foot lengths have had a loyal following. Donzi Classic Owner Clubs dot the country and are pro-active in coordinating Donzi Owner Rendezvous, offering product support and helpful tips and providing forums where all Donzi owners can exchange information. In recent years, the 22 Classic has been offered in 3 limited edition models - the Blackhawk, the 30th Anniversary Model, and most recently a hi-performance Special Edition.
