EM 550 Receiver Added to Sennheiser's Evolution Wireless Line
February 19, 2002Sennheiser has recently introduced the EM 550
dual-channel, true-diversity RF receiver for professional touring and installation applications. It improves on the EM 500, adding an internal antenna, DC power on the antenna output, an internal power transformer, and an even better front end.
The EM 550's all-metal frame is ready for the rigors of the road and will mount in just one rack space. With 1280 switchable frequencies, users will never be in want of open channels, and up to eight EM 550s (16 channels) can use just one pair of diversity antennas via the integrated active antenna splitter. An integrated, shielded power transformer does away with the ever-inconvenient "wall wart."
The unit features an HDX compander (compatible with any Evolution transmitter) boasting a 60Hz to 18kHz frequency response and a "wired" sound. A front-mounted headphone jack facilitates monitoring while transformer-balanced outputs with adjustable gain pass the unit's 110dB (A) dynamic range.
"Like all of the products in the Evolution line, the EM 550 embodies Sennheiser's RF, audio, and manufacturing expertise to deliver high performance at a low price," commented Karl Winkler, director of marketing communications. "The EM 550 has an incredibly solid RF signal and stunning fidelity. Moreover, it does away with the need for external antenna splitters or boosters, adding convenience to its list of features."
