Reggae Grooves in MIDI Now Available
February 26, 2002
Twiddly.Bits producers
Keyfax Software announced the launch of Reggae Grooves,
a massive 650+ piece collection of authentic reggae
grooves in .MID format, containing everything from
basic beats and skanks, to rock guitar lead lines,
organ bubbles, ska horns, and beyond.
In keeping with their tradition of using real players
to produce their MIDI Sample libraries, Keyfax has
called upon a number of specialist reggae players
including Tim Siefert (The Yardies), Vince Black
(Black Uhuru), and Dale Ockerman (Doobie Bros, Zigaboo
Modeliste), who also co-ordinated the recordings for
the project.
At its heart Reggae Grooves offers some 225 authentic
reggae drum loops from the classic 1 drop and steppers
beats, to lovers rock, dancehall, and ska, complete
with (timbale/kit) fills and intros.
The grooves are carefully presented in style and BPM
categories so you can easily match dancehall beats
with dancehall basslines.... Or not! With more than
100 guitar parts (skanks, lead lines, and pick parts),
organ bubbles by the score, snakey Clavinet licks, and
some sensational ska horns, Reggae Grooves lets you
produce as 'classic' or 'revolutionary' reggae
material as you want.
Reggae Grooves ($39.95) can be purchased via
direct download (complete with a 20 page manual
containing hints and tips on all the grooves),
exclusively from Keyfax software at www.keyfax.com. A
CD version will be available though, as Keyfax CEO
Julian Colbeck says:
"This is real music, played by real people with real
feel. But physically, it's data, for people to listen
to, edit, view as notation, add to their own music...
on their computers.
"Bits of paper and plastic, shrink-wrap machines, and
gas-guzzling UPS vans are simply not essential parts
of the transfer from our computers to yours. Download
is fast, and convenient, and it's clean and green."
